Exodus 14:12
12 Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘[g]Leave us alone so that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness!”
The Israelites were in physical/mental/emotional bondage. Which absolutely affected their spirit.
However in this bondage they became comfortable in their pain & suffering. The harsh treatment had become synonymous with their identity.
They were broken.
Just like an animal beaten one too many times.
They saw and felt belonging in their cruel servitude.
There is a term similar to that today: Stockholm Syndrome-When the harmed develops a psychological bond with the one inflicting the harm.
How this applies to me.
[Egypt in the Christian faith was taught and viewed in the early church as Life lived in darkness before the light Salvation through Jesus Christ.
As the Israelites were comfortable in their captivity, so today I can be comfortable in my sin.
The uncertainty, struggle, fear, and pain that comes with laying aside those sins which offend my Almighty Father, correlating to a life of crisis, cruelty, ending in a lonely death.
Find myself complaining, and stubbornly annoying my God by having duel loyalties.
Even tho God The Father came up with the cruelest most painful plan against Himself (giving over everything to His Son Jesus) to legally free me from the consequence of my lifestyle choices.
Even tho Jesus lived out that plan (leaving His rightful Home and Throne) even unto death.
Even with the Holy Spirit in dwelling my physical and spiritual body. Guarding me mentally, spiritually, and physically.
{.*even with angels assigned for my protection and support*.}
I can and have chosen
Egypt my •sin•.
Romans 7:22-25a
22For I joyfully delight in the law of God in my inner self [with my new nature],
23but I see a different law and rule of action in the members of my body [in its appetites and desires], waging war against the law of my mind and subduing me and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is within my members.
24Wretched and miserable man that I am! Who will [rescue me and] set me free from this body of death [this corrupt, mortal existence]?
25[a] Thanks be to God [for my deliverance] through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So since I know what waits at the end of my sin; {a life of cruelty, crisis, and} death.
It is a perfect choice in choosing to follow my God through the sea of the dead.
Through the wilderness of extremes. Watching and seeing the mighty hand of my deliverer, deliver me out of sins bondage.
Leading me to a land I have never known, but promised by He who has never broken His word.
A land filled with His glory.
A land filled with His peace.
A land filled with His goodness. (also of course milk & honey🤗)
A land included in the legal binding document of salvation.
Which includes a security clause: promising no pain, sorrow, violence, lies, and every type of wickedness
A land where man in his/hers fallen state does not exist.
Thank you Jesus my blemish free Lamb for buying my freedom.
AMEN!
